The star has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's independent concert spaces.

He was given the cheque on 16 October as his third album his work was chosen as the best record of the past year.

He has opted to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – about one-sixth of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help thirty-eight small stages across the UK.

The money assisted venues that were facing potential shutdown due to issues stemming from flooding, fires and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues obtained monetary aid in upgrading facilities and gear that helped artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that money from performances in major spaces helps the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has said.

Previously, the band gave their winnings to the community center that developed their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Also the 1994 recipients M People contributed their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," stated vocalist Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted the lives of others."

In the past week, the trust announced it had protected two local spots in that region, by bringing them into community ownership.

The Joiners in the city and the second in Bristol were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "shares" in the properties.
