Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the state, producing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
